Approximately how many calories should I be burning at the gym?!


Question: Approximately how many calories should I be burning at the gym?
I'm going to school to be a dentist, so my schedule is extreme, I've managed to find time 4 times a week to go to the gym. I stay for about an hour and I just switched from the treadmill to the elliptical. I usually will be on the elliptical for 25 minutes and burn about 300 calories, then I'll lift weights and split up my work out between my upper and lower body (alternating days) so I reduce the chances of muscle injury or fatigue. I'll lift for about 15 or 20 minutes. Approximately how many calories should I be burning a day, and or how much cardio is necessary for each day? Am I doing enough or should I do more?

I'm 5'2" 128lbs.
