How long does it take to lose muscle tone?!

Question: How long does it take to lose muscle tone?
I've been out sick for a few weeks and I stopped running when it began so I could get better.
While I've been sick I've lost 5 lbs but I don't feel any weaker.

How long will it be before I start losing my running muscles?

Answers:

Your body is a marvelous adaptable system.
You need about 35/50 calories a day to maintain each extra pound of muscle mass so if you’re not using it, your body will do you a favor and recycle it, mostly into body fat that you can use as energy (which is somehow hard to do if you don’t exercise) to save you the trouble of having to eat more just to maintain something that you’re not even using (you just need like 2 calories a day to maintain one pound of body fat).

I know from experience that I can gain extra muscle mass while doing weight training (feel the burn, damage the muscle fiber, rest for a few days while repairing stronger) and then lose it in a couple of days if I do not resume weight training as soon as the soreness is gone...so I cannot progress the next weight training session.

Being sick for a few weeks will surely make your body lose a lot of muscle mass...but you can regain it in a jiffy. If you need it, you’ll get it...eventually. Just take it easy and always stay at the same physical effort and your speed and performance will improve automatically.

Muscle degradation slowly sets in approximately 4 hours after you eat. As long as you have been eating regularly, you'll probably be just slightly under your normal performance when first start working out again.
If you haven't really been eating it might take 2 or 3 days to bounce back, at least this is with my experience.

if you were sick you have first lost water weight. without water the muscle will be next. rehydrate yourself, cause muscle needs water retention. then continue your excercise routine. and always remember, that the human body will feed off muscle first, before fat!!!...other than that, it will take me about 2-3 weeks to lose muscle, but depends on a certain individual and genes.
