I look thin, but I weigh a lot?!

Question: I look thin, but I weigh a lot?
I am 5'5 1/2 and I weigh 117 lbs. I look really, really skinny because I'm a ballet dancer, but how come I weigh that much? People keep telling me it's bone density and muscle mass, but I was never really sure.

Answers:

there could be 2 reasons. First your bone weight. Second muscles. Now picture it this way would you prefer to be 117lbs of solid mass or loose fat hanging around your body?? Believe me you are just perfect and more than many girls would kill to be in your shoes. And be it be your bone density or muscle mass, its good either ways. Just be happy about yourself. Noone is a better judge than yourself :) and keep the insecurities at bay, it doesn't suit pretty girls!

common sense

Your BMI (Body Mass Index) is 19.2. Normal is 20-25, so, technically you are underweight.

122lbs is the bottom end (BMI 20 for your height), and you could be 152lbs and still not be in the overweight category.

You look skinny basically because you are skinny! Not terribly so, but, definitely skinny.

This could only be considered heavy by someone with a really distorted body image or who reads trash mags. Anyway, unless you walk around permanently on a pair of scales, what does it matter?

there's nothing wrong with you.

You don't weigh a lot for your height..you might even be a little under weight hence why you're skinny.
But since you're a ballet dancer I'm assuming it's your muscle mass and bone density.

Yep, muscle is more dense than fat. Congratulations on your toned body :)

You fine that is nothing at least you are not 200lbs be happy lol

it is, ur bones and height
