My mom wants me to eat and be healthy but she never eats?!

Question: My mom wants me to eat and be healthy but she never eats?
I am obsessed with counting calories and working out to burn calories... I diet, and try to exercise everyday (if possible). I will admit that sometimes I eat very small meals, and am consuming under 1800 calories a day sometimes, which really upses my mom. The thing is that my mom hardly ever eats anymore herself... she will have 2-3 slices of pineapple for lunch, yet when I try to do that... she calls me an anorexic?! What should I do?!

Answers:

im struggling to maintain a healthy relationship with food and to teach my daughter the same, ive heard her comment on what I eat for lunch (a granola bar) and I do worry she'll take it the wrong way, I eat 1500-1700 calories a day, im 5'5 102lbs, I do cardio for maybe 20 mins a day and do weights for about 10 mins, I try to eat a variety of foods (wheats/grains, fruit, veggies, dairy) I still have some snacks (handfull of chips, few pieces of chocolate etc) I want her to be active and eat healthy, it's a fine wire to walk sometimes, id worry about your health first, you dont know what she eats when your not there, plus as you get older if you've lost muscle mass, your metabolism slows, just be fit and eat more healthy foods then junky ones

You need to talk to your mother and say your eating habits come from her. Giving her that dose of truth should hopefully snap her out of this. Then suggest that both of you look into healthy eat plans that incorporate good foods to eat to keep your body well fed.

just keep eating. moms can be a pain. she needs to lead by example. most parents forget about this. my mom always wanted me and my sis to diet. yet she was fat. go figure.
