Is 109 a decent weight for a 5'4" seventeen year old?!

Question: Is 109 a decent weight for a 5'4" seventeen year old?
My mom claims I'm "underweight" but I don't think I look like it. I'm still healthy and active, and I always eat right.

Answers:

Actually, you're not underweight. You are on the low end of the normal weight range judging from your BMI, which I just calculated. If you lose any more weight, you will be underweight, but if you gain a few, and/or maintain the weight you're at, you'll be fine. I'm 145 lbs and 16 years old. But that's okay for me, because I'm 5' 10" :)

Oh my gosh, same here! Only I'm 14, not 17. I'm 5'4" and weigh 109. Everyone, even my mom, thinks I'm underweight and too skinny, but I honestly just don't see it. I understand right where you are coming from. No, we are NOT too skinny or underweight. Our BMI's are perfectly healthy. I wish people would stop saying I'm too skinny and I'm underweight. Don't worry about your mom, she's a mother. It's her JOB to worry if her kid is kind of skinny.

You would be considered model thin by me because I'm a physician and skinny kids have no fat reserves if they get very sick.

But you're fine; don't worry about. Better skinny than having rolls of fat everywhere, which is what I see every day on the street. Absolutely gross!

No. You are underweight.

the average weight for a 5'4" seventeen year old ranges between 117-121 lbs. 109 is perfectly fine for your height

if you mean 'will guys find me attractive' then yes. 109 for being 5'4 isn't underweight. Means your skinny.
