eating 5 meals a day?!

Question: Eating 5 meals a day?
should only 3 of these meals be full meals? (ex. consisting of lean meat, healthy carbs, salad), or should they all consist of a mix of each food as opposed to a snack? what are examples of a meal?

Answers:

Okay this is very hard to explain but i will try my best. You should eat 5 times a day but not huge meals. Smaller sized meals so that your digestive system never goes without being hungry. The meal should have both carbs and proteins. Chicken etc with a bit of rice is a good example. This is used of course for weight loss. Lean meat and healthy carbs together is a perfect example. Remember though not really big portions. Hope this helped.

personal experience.

I eat 5-6 meals a day.

Breakfast- Oatmeal, egg whites, turkey bacon
Snack- Protein shake, Either a cliff bar, luna bar, or pure protein bar.
Lunch- (6oz.) Chicken 1/2 cup of brown rice, veggies
Snack- apple and almonds
Dinner- (6oz) Talapia with Veggies
Snack- Protein shake

That would be an example of what I eat. But i'm also doing p90x so that's part of the nutrition plan.

Five smaller meals are good for you. Each one of the five should consist of about 400 calories. An example might be an apple: 80 calories, vitamin water: 200 calories, and a half bag of pretzels: 115.

You should have them consiting of lean meats, healthy carbs and salads like you said. I think that would be the best choice and for the 2 snacks just have fruit

The balanced meal is a theory that is swiftly losing favor. You can eat nothing but potatoes one day and nothing but something else the next as long as you are getting most minerals and vitamins you need each week. There have been many mass experiments done on the U.S. population and it's time to admit that the three square meals a day experiment was a flop.
It's far better to listen to what your body needs and then eat that than it is to formulate a certain number of meals consisting of certain fractions of what some scientist has calculated to be the minimum required daily value.
I have recently begun to admire the Japanese who try to eat a large variety of vegetables and other foods.
Reading the book "The China Study" you will find compelling evidence that eating animal protein fuels cancer. One way to avoid dying of cancer is to simply get your protein only from plant sources. Avoid meat and dairy. Meat also tends to rob the body of calcium. The better source of calcium for humans is from plant sources. Animal protein is great for young people, but after all the growth spurts are over and the wisdom teeth come in, that's when it's time to give up meat.
Eating 5 meals a day is something you want to do if you need to maintain blood sugar. You can go longer between meals by eating something that takes a long time to digest and thus provides a slow but steady supply of energy to your blood stream. One such food is greens. Any natural food that is high in fiber will tend to take longer to digest and provide a steady supply of energy over a long time rather than a burst of energy followed by a crash.
Usually a salad has a great mix of different kinds of foods, so if you are wanting a diversity and insist on 5 meals a day, then make two of them light salads. You can include animal protein if you want, or get protein and fats from sunflower seeds or other nuts or seeds. You can include fresh bell peppers both red and green. You don't have to have lettuce. You can use other things as the base of the salad... after all, there is such a thing as potato salad. There is a wonderful variety of veggies, so if you don't like one such as raw broccoli, then you can always stick to the ones you do like and try some new ones on occasion.
In any case, there have been experiments which have shown that a person can survive and be healthy on nothing but potatoes indefinitely and certainly for over a year. I have known of a vegetarian who has eaten nothing more than a bell pepper for one of her meals.
I guess it depends mostly on why you are trying to eat 5 meals a day. I am clueless because you did not say. Are you trying to gain weight?
Generally I would say that your biggest meal should be breakfast and you should allow yourself enough time to eat it slowly and let it settle before rushing off. The other meals should be dependent on how you feel. If you are hungry then eat a meal. If you are just putting fuel in then make it a light snack. Just decide before you begin eating how much you will eat and stick with that until your next meal time if you are trying to break a habit of overeating.
It is a good idea to take a month out of the year to go on a fast. Fasting for at least 12 hours has been shown to reduce incidence of diabetes. Binging has been shown to increase it. Always eat normally when breaking the fast.
