Is it okay that I cheated on my diet tonight?!

Question: Is it okay that I cheated on my diet tonight?
So Ive been on a strict diet and hitting the gym every other day which makes it 4 times a week. Anyways I ate really healthy all day but tonight I went to McDonalds and had 1 small soda, 1 ice cream w/cone, and a cinnomon melt. Now I feel really bloated and full, will I be fine though? I heard that its actually good to cheat once a week for metabolism boost

It's an atrocity. You'll gain 100 pounds by the end of next week, bewaaarie!

Ahem. There is probably not a single dieting person in the US who doesn't partake in some indulgence once in awhile. At your age your metabolism is still a raging inferno anyway. You could eat dessert every night and probably not experience any significant weight gain from it. Today's society scares people into dieting and out of junk food but scaring yourself with all the bad press on empty calories isn't necessary as long as you understand what moderation means. Most obese people are either afflicted by some form of health concern such as hypothyroidism, or don't think of what they eat.

The fact you're thinking about it puts you in the realm of safe.

Bread gives you an extremely bloated feeling naturally. Cinnamon rolls are one of the most filling things you can eat. Milk products are in the running as well. Feeling bloated might make you feel ten pounds heavier but it'll pass. And hey, it will remind you not to frequently engorge yourself.

It merely depends on the individual. However, if you have gone to the gym, and burn more than 300-400 calories per workout--then no I do not see it being a problem. But, what I do see is a problem is the word "diet." they do not work. A lifestyle change is what is best, it takes away for the need to cheat, it becomes a part of your lifestyle.

I have lost over 65 pounds and lead a very happy lifestyle.

Don't make a habit of it, forgive yourself for 'cheating', tomorrow is a different day where you will hit the gym and forget about the Mc Donalds you had. The more you get yourself down about it, the worse you'll feel, so the more likely you are to then go eat something else to try and make you feel better.

Don't forget that if you are serious about losing weight and being fit (for life, not just until you've built a bit of muscle or lost a few pounds), you will in your life eat out in high calorie restaurants and eat some junk food, it's a fact of life. I've lost 90lbs and still enjoy eating a high calorie meal with alcohol in a restaurant - just now it is a rare special occasion thing, not a weekly thing!
