Question: I'm trying to lose weight by just eating 2 small meals a day. Is it bad to avoid my hunger by drinking water?
I'm 15 and very over weight. I'm actually consider obese. I am 5'6 and 160 pounds. I started exercising and nothing was happening so when ever I'm hungry i drink water and eat a small lunch and a small dinner. It's been 3 days and I'm 154.

This will only get you a little ways more, then it's going to backfire big time. Your starving your muscle ( your calorie burners) less muscle, less calories burned per hour. You also can't fool the brain forever, a matter of weeks, some can do a couple months, then it's going to step in and tell your mind to quit, it doesn't like pain, and it's starving as well. Go back to exercising, keep it sensible and enjoyable and give it time. Keep a decent diet, that's 3 healthy meals, and two healthy snacks ( one at brunch if possible) the other before bed, but keep it protein based, so your blood sugar stays stabilized through the night, otherwise your sleep will suffer. Most exercise/diet programs fail because they are too hard, it doesn't need to be, and you want it kept enjoyable so it becomes a habit, again your brain isn't just there to keep your eyes from rolling back, it must enjoy something to make it a habit. Your plenty young, so do this right and you'll have life long health, try to cheat the system ( your system) and you'll be struggling with your weight for life. Your choice -

Drinking a lot of water is great, but an extremely low caloric intake can do a number on your metabolism/thyroid. It may slow down your metabolism so much that if you ever start eating a normal amount of food again you will gain all weight back in only a few weeks and possibly end up weighing even more than 160 in the future. Your much better off eating three healthy meals a day and being persistent with exercise. Don't give up on it so soon just because your not seeing results on the scale. Losing weight can be a long process, and extreme dieting is definitely not the answer if you have any concern about your future health.

I feel like facepalming so bad right now.

First of all. You are not obese. According to the BMI calculator, you are .8 above "normal weight" If you lose like 5-10 pounds you'll be fine.

Second, water has absolutely no calories, drink it as much as you want. There will be no problems. There is not a bad or a wrong time to drink water. Ever.

Third, the fact that you lost 6 pounds in 3 days is very unhealthy, though I'm just assuming it's water weight, make sure you don't keep it up.

Fourth, DO NOT SKIP BREAKFAST! Do some research on dieting before you go all out. Okay? You could seriously end up hurting your system.

Fifth, if you continue this, you'll just end up gaining all that weight back + more when you go back to your "regular" way of eating.

just... logic?

yes, even though water is a source of energy, without nutrients your organs won't function properly and will decrease their life span, possibly leading to early organ failure. Without nutrients in your blood stream, your heart will start pumping faster and faster and could also fail. research into what kind of foods you should eat, its not always the quantity.

yes it is. i mean you'll loose the weight, but you'll become weak and unhealthy. you can eat anything you want just in moderation. and skipping meals would not help either. you'll become weak and you would not get the proper nutrition your body needs for everyday life. i was obese too i am 20 years old and last year i was 250lbs. my sister enrolled me to a gym, for 4 months nothing was working. so i cut the chips and softdrinks, no more midnight snacks and made time to go to the gym at lease 3 times a week for two hours each. now i am 180lbs.

yes it took time. but it is so worth it. be patient. don't starve yourself and just try to eat more fruits less sugary snacks.

You will eventually GAIN weight if you restrict your caloric intake to two meals a day..... why?..... because your metabolism will go into 'starvation mode', and store 90% of the caloric value of whatever you DO eat, silly goose!

If you are serious about losing fat, you need to eat small meals MORE often (balanced 400 calorie meals five times a day) and get more exercise, enough to burn 2,100 calories a day....... THEN you will get thinner and fitter....

A realistic & sustainable goal is to lose a pound a week. Anything you "achieve" faster than that will be temporary...

consume 1600-1700 calories every day..eliminate saturated and trans fats as much as possible(unsaturated-ploy-mono fats are good). Eat foods high in fiber

Doing cardio first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, before you eat anything, is by far, the most effective. Whether you run, jog, walk, swim, jump rope, take an aerobics class, ride a bike, etc., doing it first thing in the morning is the best time to do it for maximum fat loss.
When you do cardio first thing in the morning, you haven't eaten anything for the last 8 or so hours because you were sleeping. So, when your body sees that there are no carbs to burn, it goes directly to stored bodyfat.

Be patient!

Drinking water only during meals to avoid hunger is bad im obese too i weigh 97kilos(like that)
what i do is play badminton eat a cup of rice or just eat soup do not drink water when hungry you'll get weaker by the moment and start eating so much again

Drinking water is good as water do not have energy

my own experience

Thats not a good idea. The most effective and healthy way to lose weight is to costume a healthy balanced diet and plenty of exercise

Dude! Don't Ever do that! Exercise, eating less is very bad for you!
