Too heavy for dance? Should I lose weight first?!

Question: Too heavy for dance? Should I lose weight first?
I don't know if this is the right section but I'm starting dance in about 3 weeks, modern and contemporary, after having a break from it. I'm really, really nervous because at my old dance, everyone was super skinny and had tiny BMI scores !

I'm 5ft 2.5 and 100lbs. Should I lose a bit of weight before starting? I really don't want to embarrass myself. :/ I was thinking about 7lbs to get me back to my old bmi?

Answers:

Oh relax, you're not too heavy for anything at all. You sound pretty skinny! don't loose "weight" loose fat and put on muscle, or else you'll look and feel bony, trust me lol

Are you kidding me?
You are 5' 2.5" and 100lb, and you are overweight? How do you know the others' BMI anyway? Is it a requirement for the class?
Being super skinny can be unhealthy, especially for young people whose bodies are still growing.
Listen, what you want to fix is your confidence. You are not overweight at all. I bet when you show up for the class, you'll be the best looking in there. If you would just stop watching too much television and letting the constant parade of hungry looking models influence your life, you'll do alright. And remember that being fit is not the same as being healthy. And healthy is what you want.
Besides, dancing is a very good way to get in and stay in shape.
So, go do your thing and bust some moves on the dance floor.

It was so really hard for me to lose all that weight. I have tried so many products but they always left me disappointed. After I had my first child, it went down hill after that; I wasn't to lose the weight I put on from maternity and I just started getting depressed. I was considering cosmetic but it was really expensive. A friend of mine told me about these diet products that she used on a daily basis, I thought for a moment god no, it's another one of those, but she looked incredible. So I took her advice & started using them, have been using them for almost 1 and half weeks now. And I was shocked to see that I dropped 8 lbs. I couldnt see much weightloss the first week, but after that I began seeing constant weightloss. I've lost 20 lbs now. I have to tell ya, I feel incredible, and I'm sure my husband loves it. I trust my journey will get you motivated, now I just need to maintain the weight off and not fall back into one of those dreadful state again.

Don't worry about your weight in regards to a starting point before you should take lessons. Do not compare yourself to others. Do this for yourself... Like a previous poster mentioned, many people start dance as part of their exercise routine. Losing weight is a process and has several stages.

I wish you the best on your journey
