I'm 16 years old, weigh 119 and want to loose 10 lbs?!

Question: I'm 16 years old, weigh 119 and want to loose 10 lbs?
I weighed myself today, and today because my cycle is not on. (I am aware that the cycle adds about 5-10 lbs water weight, haha..) And my scale also said I had 19.9% body fat (is this the same thing as BMI?). I start school in September. I wanna know how I can have a flat tummy again and lose about 10lbs by the start of school. Also, is this a good weight and body fat for a 16 year old, 5'4 (height), african-american girl? (My boobs are 34B, is that proportionate??) Someone please help. I feel like my boobs are too small and that I am a fatty! :(

Answers:

How could we tell if your boobs are proportionate if we don't know the rest of your measurements...waist, hips. ???

Your weight sounds quite slender, so I don't know why you want to lose 10 pounds. Body fat is not the same as BMI. Your scale is giving you an ESTIMATE of the percentage of body fat you have. BMI is a calculation based on weight and height. You can find the formula online all over the place. If you are worried about the size of your breasts, be aware that losing weight will likely make them smaller. You sound fine to me.

Wow you are the exact same height and weight as I am ( I am 28 though). I feel fatty too. I am watching my calorie intake (1300 a day) and I am doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. I highly recommend doing this video. SInce you are only 16 you should lose weight fast. Also as far as your tummy goes, I recommend trying "smooth move tea" (google it) sometimes I have no fat but in my azz and boobs and sometimes I look 6 month preggers, that tea really helps flatten my tummy. People are probably going to tell you not to try to lose weight but if you aren't happy the best way you can lose is diet and exercise.

You need to develop a realistic plan of action to lose that weight and get in shape. Find a balance of diet and exercise. I recommend you start by walking every day for 30 minutes or 1 hour at a brisk pace. You can gradually increase in distance and intensity once you're comfortable with your new routine. And it's got to become a routine for you....be realistic. Nearly all over-ambitious exercise plans eventually fail. As for diet, you should start eating high quality foods, like lean meat, fresh vegetables, and fruits. Try to minimize the amount of carbohydrates you ingest (breads, pastas, chips, etc.) The MOST important thing is to KEEP WITH YOUR ROUTINE. If it's too demanding, change it so it's something you can realistically do. You can always increase the intensity as you go. Good luck!
