Help!!! Losing weight?!

Question: Help!!! Losing weight?
Hi there :) thank you for looking at my question.
Let me first explain myself a little. I am a 12 year old girl who is in middle school.I'm 4"11 and weigh 110 pounds. I don't do much exercise ( I know it's not good ) except for P.E. I have an athletic body type, which is very muscular especially on the legs. So my body looks a lot heavier than what it truly is because of the muscle. I probably look about 130 or 120 pounds. My problem is that i want to be skinny ( not super skinny but more than what i am right now .) I see people everyday wearing shorts or a tank top and how I long to wear something like that but I remember how i look in the mirror and I beat myself up (mentally.) I want to be like one of those girls, the ones who can look great in anything they wear. I turn down to go swimming all the time because i feel big. I don't want this kind of life anymore. I want to feel great and happy about my body. :) As far as exercising, I'm not the best at it let's just say. I just need outside advice. I'm truly sorry if i seem like one of these kids that's a brat. I don't want to appear that way. Is there any for diet that i can take? ( I'm a vegetarian so please nothing with animals :) Or maybe an exercise plan? I don't eat much junk food and I don't drink soda pop. Thank you so much for taking the time to see this question and i wish you a great night/or day :D Again i don't want to seem bratty or offend anyone :) Thank you.

Best regards
:)

Answers:

firstly, you can't really "spot reduce" fat. meaning if you go do 1000 crunches it won't get rid of belly fat.
the basic premise for losing fat is that you burn more calories than you consume, so reducing calories and increasing exercise is the obvious thing to do.

if you can access some free weights, or even something like a bowflex try doing resistance workouts ("weight lifting") three times a week, as it will boost your metabolism for a full 24 hours, even after you are finished your workout!

as far as cardio goes, there is nothing better than running! it's tough, but that's why it works. for burning fat one of the best things you can do is interval training. basically, alternating your pace between a jog or walk and a sprint. if you live in an area with lots of telephone poles then do this: start at a telephone poll, walk until you are at the next one, then jog until you are at the , next one, then sprint to the next one. repeat this process for about 20 minutes, you won't need too much more than that to be dying if you work at it hard. if you want to use a treadmill just alternate the pace between fairly slow and very quick. remember to make sure your "slow" pace is slow enough that you can recover and keep pushing yourself very hard in the sprints.

for diet, stick yo what you know is good. lot's of leafy greens, fruit veggies, all the good healthy stuff. chicken and fish are an excellent source of lean protein. STAY AWAY from: junk (candy, chocoloate, potato chips) fried foods (french fries, chicken wings) , POP (or soda, whatever you call it), really sugary crap drinks like energy drinks or sugary fruit drinks.

lastly make sure you drink alot of water, helps keep you hydrated and flush the crap out of your system

important: make sure you eat breakfast as this 'jump starts' your metabolism for the rest of the day!
mix up a meal plan with what you like, but keep the basic principals in mind. feel free to add a couple healthy snacks (almonds, fruit, yogurt, granola) in between meals.

hope this helps! remember, when you look good you feel good

You are a 12 year old girl! Go run outside and play with your friends without worrying what you look like. This is the time in your life when your body is developing, and you're going to feel a little awkward at times, but messing with diets and over exercising now is just going to hurt your development. Just don't worry about it. Eat plenty of healthy food and get outside and get moving, and before you know it you will be the beautiful woman nature intends for you to be.
