How long will it take me to lose 40-50 lbs?!

Question: How long will it take me to lose 40-50 lbs?
My bmi is 26. My body-fat ratio is 21%. I'm 5'11. I would plan on running 3 miles with rest on the weekend. Each week I would increase the daily miles by 1. I plan on eating ONLY fruits vegetables, and non-processed protein foods. I plan on also lifting weights every other day. I wil also be doing 100 situps and 100 pushups and 100 crunches every other day. SUNDAY IS THE DAY WHERE I DON'T DO ANY EXERCISE. I would also drink 160 or more oz. of water. How long will it take me? I'm hoping 2 months or less?

Answers:

Your plan seems pretty ambitious, that's OK. A healthy weight loss of only fat weight would be 10-15 lbs each month. Anymore than that, and you are probably losing muscle weight.

I lost 60 lbs and I have just a couple of suggestions based on my experience.

First, don't drink 160 oz of water per day. It's too much. You'll wash the nutrients out of your body. You are going to be eating healthy food, and your body needs the nutrients as it raises its metabolic rate to burn fat. Limit yourself to no more than 100 oz.

Second, if you haven't been running before now, don't start at 3 miles a day. You will injure yourself, your joints and muscles aren't conditioned for it. Start at very fast walking for 45 minutes to an hour, you'll burn plenty of calories . Do that for a week while your joints get used to the movement. After a week or so, start walking for ten minutes, and run for 5, walk for ten, run for 5, alternating like that. Do that for about an hour. I run for a half hour a day now, and that's pretty much how I started.

Third, your diet is good but you need some whole grains, especially cereals. Have a bowl of oatmeal in the morning with a banana for breakfast, with 2% milk. Don't worry, the fats in the milk won't get you, you are going to be exercising a lot. A diet with moderate fat is healthy. Keep your fats in a reasonable caloric range, and never eat any fats from deepfried or processed sources.

You will still need more calcium because your bones will be under some stress as you exercise. Plain, unsweetened yogurt is a good source of this. Some people don't like the tart flavor, so if you don't, add a teaspoon of honey for every three or four tablespoons. Honey in moderation is good for weight loss, it has some fat fighting properties. Like I said, I've lost 60 lbs and yogurt n honey is one of my favorite snacks, because ice cream was one of my weakness, so this snack gives me that sweet cold creamy sensation but is a good healthy food.

That's all my suggestions. Best of success!

I lost weight the wrong way.I was 260 and starved myself some days.I didn't eat much.I walked on the tread mil but that is the only thing I did right.I lost over 100 pounds but also lost muscle do to lack of nutrition. It took me a month to get my strength back.Do a lot of cardio and eat healthy, drink lots of water.I weigh 155 and it took me a year to lose the weight.Losing weight the right way takes longer but is better in the long run.

It depends, but 2-3 months for 40-50 pounds given the diet you're doing sounds right.

Make sure once per week you spike your calorie intale high so your metabolism stays fast.

Also be sure to eat 5-6 small meals each day 2-3 hours apart.
