What are the benefits of eating meat? Is meat necessary?!

Question: What are the benefits of eating meat? Is meat necessary?
I'm not a vegetarian. I have recently transitioned into a 100% organic diet. The only dairy product I eat is organic Greek yogurt. I'm not yet ready to give up eating meat, but I have been cutting back severely the past year or so based on my body's reactions to the meats I consume. I don't eat any type of pork or beef since they make me feel awful.

What are in your opinion the healthiest meats and the unhealthiest? Eventually, I hope to cut out meat from my diet if it proves to not be beneficial or agree with my body. Of course, I don't like what non-organic companies do to animals, I believe in animal rights but I'm not an activist/ fundamentalist. I still eat animals and use animal products. But is it beneficial to the human body in any way to eat meat?

Of course, I am going to eat what makes me feel good in the end, but hearing from other people always helps and is always informative. Thank you :D

Meat really has no benefits, and it isn't necessary. Consumption of meat slows down your digestive system, vegetarians digest their food quicker and have a far higher stamina than their meat eating counterparts. My grandfather was a vegan and lived to be 99yrs old and fully independent until the day he died. M is right, Beans and Lentils have just as much protein as meats and sometimes even more, not to mention they are richer in iron, fibers and proteins making them easier to digest. Yes eat whatever makes you feel good, I myself am a meat eater, but hopefully one day when I'm ready I will make the transition to becoming a vegetarian. White meats are the healthiest, such as Chicken breast, and fish like cod and salmon. Dark meats are bad for your heart and blood pressure if consumed too much, it is said that dark meat shouldn't be eaten more than once a week. I'd say Pork is the unhealthiest than beef due to the unsanitary issues. In the end one can live perfectly fine, and be a very healthy specimen without the need to consume meat. Hope I could be of assistance, hope I could be of assistance my friend :)

Omega 3 can be found in many products which aren't meat, such as Country harvest bread products, cereals, soy/almond milks, and especially walnuts are rich in omega fatty acids.

Bran, oats, whole grains, beans, lentils, nuts, and dairy are very rich in protein

Sorry I broke the Trees is right, Vegetarians have better and harder muscle than meat eaters, do to their digestive system eliminating waste quicker, giving them the better leaner bodies. Protein isn't the only thing one needs for muscle, fibers, and iron are essential too.

Meat is essential for maintaining muscle mass. If you don't like red meat then choose more lean meats like chicken or turkey, and also seafood. I would not recommend giving it up entirely. Protein is a staple to any diet and most vegetarian food plans do not provide an adequate amount. This is why vegetarians who choose to give up meat lose weight, but not in a very healthy manner because most of the weight loss is in all of their muscles.

Meat is very important. You need protein to grow. If you give up meat make sure you eat a lot of beans to get that protein. I think fish is the healthiest meat. It gives you omega 3 which is really important for your brain.

you get protein from meats
it's not necessary, but if you don't want to eat it you have to replace it with something that will give you the proteins such as beans.

Eat hamburgers. They are delicous! Are you crazy?!!?!?! We are at the top of the food chain! We eat everything!

Blood
Immune system

protein

Meat is unhealthy. Period. It rots in your insides for many hours. All the toxins and small wor^ms stay in your body.
Have you ever seen a protein ?
I'm amazed when people say they need it. It's just a belief. I'm a vegetarian and I've never looked better. I have better muscle too.
Yes I'm aware there is some in vegies..da-la-la...who cares. You could get used to not eating at all if you ease into it.
There are groups that do, they're called breatharians.
I aspire to be one, one day...

Eating meat is not essential to the human diet. People will say that it is but it is not. It is a good source of protein however you can get protein from nuts and beans. Meat as well has very little fiber. If you don't get enough fiber from other sources this can cause pollups in your intestines. Small blow outs that are because the intestines have had to work extra hard to push the food through. The healthiest meats are probably fish and lamb. The only thing you really get out of meat is protein. Personally I believe that diseases you can get from meat far outweigh the advantage of protein. Fruits, veggies, grains are the main portions of our diets. Meat is not in anyway essential.

Here is the most authoritative information I've found:

Note that meat is not an important part of the Harvard Eating Pyramid.

- But is it beneficial to the human body in any way to eat meat?

My guess is that for growing children some meat is a good idea to insure they grow correctly. Adults need little or no meat. No one benefits from 8-16 oz. of meat twice a day.

- The only dairy product I eat is organic Greek yogurt.

There is no benefit to this type of yogurt compared to other yogurt. If this is your favourite kind, that's fine but don't think it's giving you anything extra. Dairy is an easy way to get complete protein if you use the non-fat variety.

- What are in your opinion the healthiest meats and the unhealthiest?

Generally the more fat content a particular meat has, the more unhealthy it is. The source of the meat (cows, sheep, goats, chickens) is unimportant. Fish is much better for you than land-animal meat.
