In your opionion, how overweight does some1 gave to be to be classed as "fa!

Question: In your opionion, how overweight does some1 gave to be to be classed as "fat"?
I was just interested to see what people think. Cos I'm 13,
5 foot 5, and I weigh 14 stone (about 200 pounds) female and I really don't consider myself overweight, let alone fat. According to my bmi I'm on the top end of obese and people at school call me fat and my doctor told me I need to lose weight but I really think I look about average and certainly not fat. Correct me if u think I'm wrong and need glasses. My friend is the same height as me and weighs 11 stone (154 pounds) and people call her fat but I personally think she's very skinny. So how overweight do u consider fat and do u think I need glasses??

Answers:

First of all, it makes me smile to know that there are some girls out there who are happy with their body. :) Don't worry about what other people think, that only leads to bad things!

It's not how much u weigh, it's how u look. I'm overweight, because I have a lot of muscle mass. My friend is underweight, because he's extremely tall for his age. Fat is completely different then weight. A person is considered fat if their abdominal area sticks out a lot, and u cannot see their muscle tone. Weight is just the body's mass

Weight does not come into it, that is a very old fashioned way of judging anything and cannot tell you about fat at all.
BMI is a load of rubbish simply put, a 5 ft 5 body builder weighing 200lbs with say 8 % body fat will be classed as obese on the BMI scale the same as a 5 ft 5 very unhealthy guy weighing 200lbs with 30 % body fat.
These 2 guys are exactly the same height and weight, however 1 has very low body fat and the other has very high body fat.

The only way to tell who is fatter is to test your body composition i.e body fat to lean tissue %.
