Is it OK to work out with a cold?!

Question: Is it OK to work out with a cold?
I've got a mean cough and the sniffles, though no elevated temperature, I think.
I'd usually be scheduled for some heavy cardio training tonight - should I go, or cancel?

Answers:

It would not be good to do cardio with a cough because of the breathing involved with cardio. Also an intense workout that creates high levels of endorphins can wear down the immune system. It will take you longer to recover from your cold if you work out, but with no fever and once your cough is better than a light workout would be ok.

go, it'll help fight the viruses in your body. your body will heat up and hopefully the virus will go sooner. also, its good to use the sauna for half hour, that will REALLY help. its a fact, not a guess.

If it is in a gym or class, no. Go run outside instead. Don't risk getting other people sick. But, for your personal health, as long as you don't have a fever or dizzy spells or pain when exercising... GO FOR IT!!!

Cancel

Not in a cold but in a cool place is advisable.

Don't push your self too hard, but your throat might be irritated afterwards.

I have done this many times no problem just drink allot of water and go easy.

I wouldnt go heavy. Plenty of water is a must.
