How to lose 1 pound a week?!

Question: How to lose 1 pound a week?
So I hear that in order to do this, you have to lose 500 calories a day... but it kinda confused me because I dint know if they meant eat the regular amount of calories a day and than lose 500 calories of that, or to eat however many calories you want and lose 500 pounds.
Well Im going with the first one.
So Im going to have exactly 1200 calories a day, but work off 500 of that. Would I be able to work off 500 pounds by riding my bike for 30 minutes? And than Hopefully I will go down to 113 puonds. (Im only 12 years old.) So thanks!

Answers:

One pound a week is manageable. The easiest way for MOST overweight people to lose the weight is to make simple adjustments to their diet. Stop drinking or eating anything with sugar in it. Increase your water intake. These two things all by themselves will cause most overweight people to begin losing weight.

The "500 rule" is to reduce the amount of calories you are eating each day by 500 calories. Do this for a week. At the end of the week if you have lost up to 2 pounds then maintain that amount of food intake. If, however, you are not losing the weight, then you reduce your food intake by another 500 calories the next week. A healthy amount of weight to lose for most people is 2 pounds a week.

You being so young, you should be careful about how much you diet. Young bodies need more fat and calories because you are still growing and developing. Unless you are very large, I would not worry too much about dieting down. Just make better food choices. And exercise is always good.

Well on average, if you work at a steady speed the whole time, you burn 10 calories every minute. Therefore 30 minutes would equal to 300 calories.

I bet it will take more than 30 minutes...unless you're really hauling it.
