Answers:

Just eat healthy and pay attention to what you are eating. Counting calories helped me to realize all the bad foods I was eating. This is a good website to help you reach your goals and stay healthy.. www.myfitnesspal.com/

Forget processed foods like chips, soda, candy, ice cream, etc..

I struggled with weight for a long time and finally realized I was just eating out too much. These are some changes I made that helped me lose quickly--

Fruits instead of candy
Soy milk instead of regular
Hot tea/ iced tea (w/honey) instead of soda
Plain oatmeal instead of the pre packaged
Homemade instead of eating out
Whole wheat instead on white
Always eat breakfast
Drink 8 glasses of water a day
Stop eating after 6PM
Cut your meals in half and eat every 3 hours
Exercise 30 minutes a day

I know sometimes it's hard to find time to go to the gym but any chance you get to walk, take it. If you can take a jog around the block a couple times. Anything helps and everything counts.

PS. Don't beat yourself up if you mess up on your diet but DO workout hard to make up for it.

Drink lots of water, and give up on all other unhealthy drinks (stuff like skim milk and fruit juice is ok, but make sure the juice has no preservatives.) If you have a bike or legs, use them. Jog, bike or do some yoga for at least thirty minutes everyday. You said that you have a bit of a belly, so try to do some crunches, a little bit more each day. Food is sort of a big part of losing weight. You could eat all the things that you want, but would have to exercise ALOT to put off the weight. Eat many fruits and veggies (five servings a day would be good.) try to stay away from unhealthy, high-calorie foods. Get them out of your house before you start dieting. NEVER use laxatives. They might work, but the damage it can cause to your digestive tract can be irreparible. Same goes for bulimia and anorexia. Lastly, if you want to slack of on your diet a little, here's a little "mind trick" that I used: Keep thinking about your muscles and exercising; It will trick your body into losing weight and becoming stronger. You don't have to believe it, just think about. I used all of these methods, and lost 15 pounds in a month. You MUST stick to the diet for it to work, though. Not trying to sound like an ad here, but try it for a week and see if it works for you. Of course, if you want to keep the weight off, make this a routine, but be less strict with the rules. By that, I mean that you can go ahead and nom on that slice of cake in the fridge :) Good luck.

Used it; Compiled the rules from various "miracle diets."

You need to exercise everyday (maybe jog around your neighborhood once a day for a good hour or so), and you need to cut out ALL junk food. That means no sweets, soda, candy, chips, and other junk food. You should be eating lean meats like chicken, fish, and turkey, as well as whole-grain breads, vegetables, fruits, and low-fat dairy. Do not get discouraged if you don't see huge results in a month or two. If you stick to it, eventually you will get to your goal. If you give up or cheat on your diet or exercise, you are only hurting yourself and getting yourself farther from your goals.

Good luck!

Cut your fat intake down, run and swim. Don't fad diet eat all the food groups just cut back on the volume and ditch any sweetened drinks, cola's and energy drinks - eg drop the sugar. No burgers or fast food - heaps of fruit, fish and veges, eat only half of what you normally eat, 'one sandwich instead of two etc. Good luck. doc
