I'm getting my widom teeth extracted, can i drive myself home afterwards?!

Question:

I'm getting my widom teeth extracted, can i drive myself home afterwards?

It's going to be with local anesthesia, and I've told both my dad and my boyfriend, who would be my top choices for going with me, but none of them volunteered to go with me. I guess my dad assumed my boyfriend would go with me. Anyways, I'm wondering if any of you know about this kind of things... Do you come out of this operations unable to drive? Or is it just a commodity to be a passenger? I don't need to be 'spoiled' because of the pain I'll be in, or because my face will be swollen. If i can do it all on my own i will. So, do you think I should go alone?

Answers:

You should not drive, even if you only receive a local anesthetic, rather than general.

Your oral surgeon will recommend that you do not drive. Call your surgeon's office & ask if they have interceded with family or if they can call your family when the operation is finished, and you are ready to leave the building.
