Son with discolored front tooth after fall?!

Question:

Son with discolored front tooth after fall?

Before I say anything, I have an appointment with the dentist already but I just wanted to see what people thought the problem may be. My son fell on his face about two weeks ago and had a fat lip and bruised gums. That healed rather quickly but this week I noticed that one of his front teeth is significantly darker in color than the rest of his teeth. It doesn't seem to bother him although he'll say it hurts if I ask him "Does it hurt?" but he's 3 and I'm not sure if he's just trying to tell me what he thinks I want to hear. It is not loose and he never comes out and complains and doesn't have any problems eating. What do you think (preferably people who have dental experience)?

Hi my son did a similar thing and hit his head against his brothers then his tooth had a dark area. It gave him no pain but some time after we noticed an absess above the tooth and apon taking him to the dentist part of the tooth had died and the absess formed. It had to be removed so it did not affect the 2nd teeth growing in the gum. He was about 4-5 and had the gap for awhile before his 2nd tooth appeared but it had to be done to prevent damage to the adult tooth. hope that helps
