Stains on rear side of teeth?!

Question:

Stains on rear side of teeth?

Although I brush regularly (morning & evening), I have noticed stains on rear side of my teach (lower). How can I clean this area since the brush cannot reach there. Pls suggest a solution.

Answers:

This area is the most common area for buildup (stain, tartar, or plaque) with all people. You have salivary gland under the tongue which helps the soft plaque turn into tartar (calculus) which is rough (like cement) and it catches the stain. You will need to have this buildup removed by a dentist or dental hygienist. Once you have it removed here are some suggestions for keeping it at a minimum-
Drink dark colored drinks (coffee, tea, soda, wine) through a straw, don't smoke etc.
Use a smaller tooth brush or even better, an electric one (I love my Oral B Braun) for 2 minute brushing 3 times a day
Floss
Brush the area with a dry (no water, no toothpaste) toothbrush since the bristles will be a bit coarser and less slippery without the paste
Try a sulcabrush, it is a tiny tiny brush with an angle built in
Use a whitening toothpaste it helps keep stain to a minimum

Hope that helps!
