Dentist can tell if Ive smoked? (details)?!

Question:

Dentist can tell if Ive smoked? (details)?

In the past 2 1/2 weeks, I have smoked about 27 cigarettes. I smoked my last cigarette today, and before that my last one was 2 days ago. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow and I have cleaned my tounge, scrubbed my gums and tounge, and of course my teeth 3 times in the past 4 hours. Will the dentist be able to tell that I have smoked, and if so will he say anything or can he? Is there anything else I can do to cover it up?

Answers:

It sounds to me like this was your first pack and you are trying to hide it from your parents and are afraid he will say something to them.
I don't think with just one pack in 2 1/2 weeks he will be able to notice much. You haven't smoked enough to cause damage to the gums or to have tar build up on your teeth. I think you will be ok.
By the way, did you know the eye doctors can tell if you smoke too. So, if you have an eye appointment soon--watch out for that. I think they can tell more easily than your dentist.
