Bad breath?!

Question:

Bad breath?

My husband has some serious bad breath, any suggestions for helping it? He brushes and flosses regularly, but even right after he finishes brushing his teeth the bad breath returns...it's seriously dampening our "romance".

Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks!!

Answers:

Bad breath can be an indicator of some troublesome things:

Acid reflux, which can be a precursor to cancer of the esophagus.

Sinus problems, while less troublesome that acid reflux may indicate the need to examine the sinus areas for obstructions. Does he snore?

Does he smoke? Or chew tobacco? These may be culprits.

A vitamin deficiency. Chewable vitamin C may help this.

If this is a new problem, has he noticed any thing changing regarding the health of his gums, or signs of an abcess tooth, that can occur without pain for some time? (Swelling of the gums in one particular spot, and drainage from that area, or bleeding may be indicators.)

Can you tell if the offensive odor is primarily from the mouth, or the nose, or a combination of both? If the nose is part of the problem, then saline nose drops may help.

Is the situation constant in its severity? Or does it get worse after he eats certain food high in acids?

Do a search for more ideas. They shouldn't be hard to find. Check out Web MD.
