To current upper denture wearers;?!

Question:

To current upper denture wearers;?

I have just received a complete upper denture which felt to fit well at the Dentist 3 days ago. I am still without lower back teeth.

My problem is I am unable to eat a complete meal without having food enter between the denture and my upper palate. I must remove my denture and clean them because of the discomfort.

Is this normal? Must I now have a lower partial denture ?
Was your initial experience similar?
Must I use an adhesive already?
Thanks for your reply.

my husband says:if you use the denture fixadent correctly,it will reduce the amount of food getting under your plate. He also has no molars on the bottom and does'nt wear a lower plate. The gums toughen up that much that he can eat steak with no problems.Remember that your gums will shrink and you will need a new plate in a few months but if you feel it is catching certain parts of the gum go back to your dentist and tell him/her.They will then adjust the plate to fit better, reducing the dis-comfort.Hope this helps. The natural flavoured Fixodent is the best as there is no taste and very easy to remove from dentures and palate.Just make sure you put good-sized blobs all over the plate and that should hold it in tight. The main thing is to try and keep the plate in as much as you can incase your gums swell slightly.Hubby got his full plate 3 weeks ago and it's settling in fine now.
