Answers:

It's not how many times a day you brush your teeth...

It's WHEN you brush your teeth that's important.

The purpose for brushing your teeth is to brush off the sticky white gunk on your teeth. The sticky white gunk, AKA bacterial plaque, is a mass of germs that rots away at your teeth. The longer that stuff is stuck on your teeth, the longer it will rot away at your enamel.

The best times to brush would be after each meal, and before bed. Doing that would get rid of the food bits and plaque stuck in your teeth, before they have a chance to grow.

Other things you can do to stack the odds in your favor: Don't just brush your teeth-- Brush your gums and tongue too. You also need to brush the right way to get rid of as much plaque as possible-- Ask your dentist to show you the proper technique. Floss every day. Get any existing cavities filled to get rid of places where germs can hide. Use a fluoride toothpaste. Get regular 6-month checkups and cleanings to catch cavities while they are small and easy to repair.

Avoiding tooth decay is all about keeping the sticky white gunk off your teeth.

Good luck.
