Can a 3 year olds tooth be forced back into the gum?!

Question:

Can a 3 year olds tooth be forced back into the gum?

My son jumped into a ball pool at an indoor play centre, came back crying saying he had hit his head, but as he stopped crying almost immediately we didn't think anything major had happened, but at home we noticed that one of his front teeth has or what looks like to have been pushed back into the gum. He hasn't complained about any pain but the area does look a bit sore. Will this create any problems for him and will the tooth come back down?

Answers:

Take him to the dentist right away. They can tell what kind of shape the tooth is in from x-rays. It could come back out on its own or it might need to be removed.
