How old do you have to be to get sealants?!

Question:

How old do you have to be to get sealants?

I am thinking of getting my toddlers teeth cleaned and getting them sealnats. One of them is 3 yrs old and the other one will be 2 in Oct. Are they too young to get them?

Answers:

Sealants are a wonderful form of preventive dentistry. For the sealant to stay on the tooth, the dentist or assistant must make sure the tooth is completely dry of saliva. Not an easy thing on 2 or 3 year olds. Remember sealants are usually only done on molars, so the two year old may not even have his/her second molars in yet.
By FAR, more cavities in kids mouths start in between their teeth, especially their molars. So be sure to floss them (just like you should be doing your own) as soon as they will let you.
