Answers:

Orthodontic rubber bands aren't sold in stores. If you lost your bag of elastics (rubber bands), just call your orthodontist's office and tell them that you need a new supply. This happens all the time, and they probably won't charge you extra for them. All you have to do is go pick them up. Sometimes the office will even mail them to you if you're on vacation!

You can't borrow elastics from friends, either. You have to have the correct type of elastics, and chances are your friend won't have the same type. The appropriate elastic is chosen for your type of braces, and the stage of treatment you're in. Although elastics look basically the same when they're in people's mouths, they come in different lengths & thicknesses. (They are often color coded by size, and so you may have yellow on one side and green on another, for example.) Your orthodontist chooses the appropriate size for your jaw size and how far the elastics need to stretch, and the amount of force that's needed to move your teeth. There will be a record of the type of elastics you need, and how you are supposed to wear them, in your treatment file.

Give the office a call!
