Is it better to have normal braces or clear ones?!

Is it better to have normal braces or clear ones?

I REALLY don't want braces, but suddenly I need them. Pfft. Anyway, is it better to have the normal ones where you have the color...things on it, or clear ones? I want clear ones, but I heard that they're not that good. Which do you suggest?
