Re: extraction? toothache! no dentist open 2day!?

question: since im in extreme pain with my bottom molar tooth, if i have to get it pulled, do the dentists take the nerve out as well? i know with root canals they take the nerve out, but was wondering, do they do the same when just pulling? I cracked this tooth a year ago, had a baby a year ago, so needless to say all my money goes to our daughter. my insurance does not cover any dental what so ever. we have $10 to our name right now, and its saturday. my husbands father was going to lend me the money for whatever i needed done, but ive called around, no denal offices are open. just my luck, 4th of july weekend! so its sorta out of the question to go to the dentist. ive taken pain killers, like Vicodin, that ive had leftover from a surgery 2 months ago, and Anbesol. nothing is working. i read all last night some people say to (correct me if im wrong) put cloves on a tooth. something like that. where do i find this temporarily fix?? thanks all. appreciate any answers.

Answers:

DO NOT under any circumstances put aspirin directly on the area! While it does help temporarily you can get what is called an "aspirin burn" which hurts like 20 times worse. DO NOT DO THIS PLEASE. I know the girl who is in dental assisting school says to do this but she probably hasn't gotten to the part of the schooling where she learns about aspirin burns.
To relieve the pain till you get into see the dentist go to the ER, they can give you what you need to get through the weekend, I know your tight on money but this is really the only safe way to do so. In the office I work for we see patients after-hours for emergencies such as yours. Actually, my office is open today anyways till 3:00pm. If you live in the Burbank, California area let me know, I will give you the phone number.
