Getting rid of blood after tooth extraction?!

Question: I just got my tooth taken out, and so much blood gathered in my mouth that I had to get rid of it, so I just opened my mouth and let it trickle out. Will this in any way affect the blood clot?

Hi! I've been in dentistry for over 20 years and DO NOT rinse. Use gauze to soak up blood. Then take more gauze and soak it in mouthwash and rub in on your tongue, inside your mouth and behind your front teeth, upper and lower. This will re-fresh the mouth and make it feel better. Eat lightly and take meds, drink tiny amount of warm soup, but I prefer you eat cold. All the ice cream you can stand and this will coat your tummy from all the blood your swallow.
Tomorrow start warm salty rinses, not to hard, gentle. 3-4 times a day and last before bed. DOn't eat crusty, spicey or hard foods for 3-4 days and then you will be fine. Remember to rinse for 5 day with salt water. This will help heal and remove food. Good luck!! ~M

gargle with some peroxide (just don't swallow)

Letting the blood trickle out won't hurt the blood clot, just don't spit or drink through a straw. If there was an infection at the site it will bleed for at least 48 hours. Rinse with warm salt water the day after the tooth extraction 4x a day for two weeks.

i just got mine done 2 weeks ago.

do not do not do not spit or suck through any straws. really do not spit!
especiall if you just got them out.

put gauze back there and bite down or put tea bags they can help with the forming of blood clots.

you do not want a dry socket ouch!

You can rinse with warm salt water but do not spit.

It wont hurt the clotting at all. Wash your mouth out concentrating around the area where you have had this tooth removed with warm salt water. Just a teaspoon of salt to half a cup of warm water. Dont swallow. I recently had three teeth out. Salt will help prevent you getting any infections in your gum as its healing aswel as that salt helps to harden the gum. It will heal quicker.

If it starts bleeding again and won't stop--don't think it really should of been trickling out--that sounds like alot--so if it does start again-- get a tea bag and wet it alittle--and bite on it softly right on the area--within 5 minutes it will stop bleeding and won't affect the clotting process.
