My wisdom teeth were impacted too and i had to have them all removed. I had mine done in hospital under general anesthetic though not at the dentists. Yes, it hurts a little, the swelling is probably the worst thing - you'll look like a hamster for a few days.
It's not really anything to worry about though.

Don't worry.I had one of mine taken out in May but the dentist did a great job and actually I didn't feel any pain.Mine was horizontal and a very difficult tooth.Good luck and don't think of it.
i'm going to be getting mine taken out soon, so as you can imagine from the horror stories i've heard i'm crapping myself. i guess the best thing to do is just relax yourself about it, it will probably be sorer after the procedure, make sure you rest.
I got all 4 taken out yesterday, and this was after 4 years of putting it off and worrying about it. I feel like such a moron now because it was so easy. Mine were growing in completely sideways on the bottom, so I feel your pain (no pun intended). The worst part is the anticipation, i.e. the car ride there, the consultation and getting hooked up to all the machines. I've been in la-la land ever since I woke up and have experienced ZERO pain, just make sure that you're meds overlap so theres no time where you can have any pain. Best of luck to you, it will honestly not be bad-enjoy all the mashed potatoes and ice cream!
you may experience some pain but try not to spit out and dont rinse for 24 hours the next day rinse with warm
it will be fine you may exprierance some pain but dont spit out and dont rinse your mouth for 24 hours next day swish your mouth with warm salty water as hot as you can stand several times a day try not to spit out as you may end up with a dry socket which isnt very much fun at all if you do have lots of pain you can take a mixture of paracetamel and ibruprofen every 2 hours if you keep bleeding bite down on a piece of damp gauze or a clean hanky for 20 minutes it should stop but im sure you will be fine good luck
Thank goodness i have been very lucky person i have never had any wisdom teeth but have known people who had them removed, and they were just fine do try not to worry.I hope everything goes fine please do let us know.That's the problem its not very often we get to find out people are OK afterwards good luck...
