Brushing teeth/ bleeding gums?

hey i have braces now for the past year and i thought there was a piece of candy stuck in them but its my gums! between two of the brace brackets there is a piece of my gums still attatched stuck betwwen the brackets, i tried using a pick to get it out but then it started bleeding and i knew it was my gums not a piece of candy? why is it stuck there, and not like the rest of my mouth? how do i fix this problem? i have always brushed twice a day... never had bleeding gums before, only this time i do kuz i tried picking the gums out of my braces with a pick... please help thanks.

I would go back to your orthodontist and show him the problem. He can definitely fix it, and it is better to spend more money than to have to have part of your gum stuck between two brackets for the remainder of your braces. I would not leave it there, it might cause something in your mouth. If you cant go back to the orthodontist, make sure to be very gently with it. Chew mostly on the other side of the mouth, brush lightly (but still brush) over it, and keep it the way it is. If you really want to try, you could try to push it out, even if it bleeds a little.
