Taste buds are little growths on your tongue that have small trenches around them and in those trenches the taste sensation cells are placed. In order for the food to get in contact with the sensation cells it must get through the trenches and sometimes it gets suck there. Normally there are small mucous glands that produce mucus that washes off the residues of food from the trenches, if those glands are not functioning infection may occur.

Gargle with salt water...leave them alone and they will go away..if not see a doctor it could be a sign of something further

Well, I get them all the time. My mom says that it's caused by eating too spicy foods or too sour foods, or just foods with like a lot of spice on it. I can never get them to go down, so i just wait it out, and suck on some ice or something.

edit: actually, the person under me had a point. you COULD try salt water. I'll try that next time.
