Question:

I play saxophone and got my wisdom teeth removed, when can i start playing again?

i got them removed last saturday and have a gig 2 weeks and a day from that, should i keep it or cancel?

Answers:

PAUL,
THE PROBLEM WITH HAVING WISDOM TEETH REMOVED IS A NEGATIVE VACUUM INSIDE THE MOUTH AS WHEN SMOKING, USING STRAWS, SIPHONING GAS,ETC.
WHY"
THE BLOOD CLOT OVER THE SOCKETS WHERE THE WISDOM TEETH WERE MAY BECOME DISLODGED. THIS MAY LEAD TO DRY SOCKET. THIS IS EXTREMELY PAINFUL.
ASSUMING YOU ARE TAKING AIR THROUGH THE NOSE AND BLOWING IT OUT THE MOUTH, THERE IS NO NEGATIVE VACUUM PRESSURE. THE POSITIVE PRESSURE DOESN'T CAUSE THE BLOOD CLOT TO BE LOST.
YOU CAN SAFELY PLAY THE SAX ON SAT. GOOD LUCK.
