Question:

What Should You Do If You Lost Your retainers ( Just read Details)?

I lost my retainers 3 months ago and one of them was snapped in half partially and my teeth are moving quite a bit. I havent gone to the ortho ever since cause im afraid of him and his nagging.im always worrying about the teeth but the other thing is my dad. my dad assumes i still have my retainers but i dont and its been 3 months or so. im just worried at the fact that if i go there to the ortho he might tell my dad or itll cost him another couple grand to get braces again i wanna not go because i want to save up money my self to get new retainers without my dad knowing any of this. HELP ME!!!!

Answers:

DO go to the ortho as soon as you can! I've had both my retainers replaced, the top one broke in half and the bottom one got lost and I was totally afraid to tell my mom about it. But most parents would much rather pay a few hundred for new retainers then watch a few thousand dollars go down the drain as your teeth shift back to the way they were. If you replace it soon enough they can correct any shifting with the retainer. Mine must not have been caught soon enough cause mine never got completely straight again after that :(

Also, maybe consider seeing a new ortho if you don't like the one you have. I never stick with doctors that I don't get along with.
