Answers:

You've got two diagonally impacted adult teeth which is really common. The adult teeth are erupting in the wrong position which is why you still have the baby teeth firmly in place (there is no adult tooth underneath it to resorb its roots). The surgery involves exposing a portion of the impacted teeth and attaching the metal chain which will be attached to either the braces or the archwire and slowly pull the teeth into the correct position. I don't believe the type of braces you have on the rest of your teeth will prevent this from happening, usually the tooth being "dragged" will have a metal attachment on it anyway. I have a few patients with ceramic brackets who have had this procedure. Once the teeth are in alignment, a ceramic bracket can be used to replace the metal attachment.
