Wrong teeth removed during oral surgery...next course of action?!

Question:

Wrong teeth removed during oral surgery...next course of action?

I recently went in to have all 4 wisdom teeth removed, but they were so deeply impacted that the surgeon ended up removing two molars and two wisdom teeth instead...he gave me the surgery for free after telling us his mistake...but everyone says i should sue. i'm a big believer in karma and am nervous that sueing over something like this will come back to bite me...however i really could use the money right now, and am quite conflicted regarding this situation. If i do choose to sue, what should be the first course of action?

my issue with the first response is that dental implants must be put in over the course of several surgeries and it is a very painful procedure...

furthermore you have to be kidding if you think i would return to the same surgeon for more work after his mistake...

Answers:

The first thing you should do is go to another dentist and ask them if the functional molars that were pulled need to be replaced. Sometimes neighboring teeth might drift around, and an opposing tooth might rise out of its socket once it has nothing to bite against.

If you do need to have the functional molars replaced with implants to prevent those things from happening, that oral surgeon is obligated to pay for the replacement to fix his error.

Also, you should ask that oral surgeon for a copy of your chart and x-rays. The information belongs to you, and by law he cannot refuse. You need the records on hand if a satisfactory settlement cannot be reached and if your case goes to litigation.
