I'm about to get my wisdom teeth removed, any tips for me?!

Question: I know that getting your wisdom teeth removed is a pretty normal surgical procedure. However, I'd like to know what helpful input others can give me before I go under the knife...

Your right it really isn't so bad of a surgery. But doing the right things afterword will help with the healing. The day of the surgery drink a lot of liquids to rehydrate yourself. Do not drink any carbonated drinks because the bubbles will most likely pop the blood clot that we want to form in the socket. If you lose this you will have pain that is worse than a tooth ache. No drawing in like sucking with a straw or smoking for at least the first 48 hours. No spiting either. If you feel yuck in your mouth just let it run in your mouth and let just fall out into the sink any swishing will also pop this blood clot. After a couple of days you can then rinse with a pinch of salt in a glass of warm water as many time a day as you want this will help sooth and heal the extraction sites. If you have severe pain call you Dentist right away this is probably a dry socket he will have to pack it with some gauze and medication. If your have suture that doesn't dissolve by it self you will have to go back and have them remove. If your asst or Doctor tell you to keep cold packs because more impacted teeth do so. Remember to take your meds. and eat soft foods for a few days. You will do just fine. Good luck.

I was put out for mine, and I was kinda excited because I told Jeffree Star and he actually answered me back.

No real helpful advice, but it was really cool!

Be sure to have someone take care of you for a few days, get good pain medication and plenty of liquid food.

I had mine removed around 10 years ago. Me & my brother did it on the same day. We were both told not to eat anything because of the anastesia. I did and he didn't. They used laughing gas on me & I had a blast. Everything the doctor said was hilarious. I recouped fairly well given the circumstances & my brother was out of it. The bottom line is I had more energy & was not as weak because I had eaten. Also do have someone pick you up after, you won't want to drive home after.

Start taking pain relievers before the freezing wears off (unless not instructed to do so).

Do not drink from a straw. it can cause dry socket and that is worse then the actual pulling of the teeth. TRUST ME! I had it. Good luck and follow your doctors instructions.
