Since you dear brother broke his crown while eating toffee, it could be a milk tooth. But depending upon his age, it could be permanent tooth also. So, please take him to a dentist for a check-up,plz.
For the time being, if he is feeling a bit pain, just give some pain killer that he might be normally taking for pain elsewhere. Secondly, if there is bleeding from that place just place a piece of clean cotton over the site and leave it undisturbed for about 15-20 minutes. Please tell your brother not to rinse his mouth today and not to spit. He should not take anything hot today..........All the very best!!

Just 'baby' that side of the mouth, don't chew on that side, etc. Call the dentist in the morning. They can put a temporary crown on.
There are products that a drug store might have that allow you do put a temporary crown on, but why do that if you can get to the dentist in a day or two? The dentist should make room for you.
