Teeth Filling?!

Question: I'm getting two teeth filled this saturday and it being my first time, I'm extremely nervous as i've no idea what the process it like.

To me, the injection is the most daunting. Is the feeling somewhat like getting a jab on your arm or is it worst?

Will the drilling bit hurt or will I just feel pressure and how long does it take to get one teeth filled? Mine's just a small hole.

Thanks.

It's human to be nervous on things we don't know.

But dentists have been trained to maneuver you through the process...believe it or not!

There is no doubt it will be painful. The degree of pain is dependent and variable on age, gender, and pain tolerance. Although, the success rating of a dental operation can be determined mostly at the first level of anesthesia.

You will be anesthsized twice on most instances, comprising of a topical anesthesia and the liquid in a syringe infiltration. This might sting a little bit. Just picture out a needle prick. At this juncture you will feel a profound state of numbness...hopefully. From this point on, the operation should run smoothly and yes it should feel like a light pressure.

A dental filling procedure would run from 1-10 min. depending on certain circumstances such as procedure, material, and the dentist's ability.

If your dentist would give you an option, you should go for ART (atraumatic restorative treatment). You won't have to be drilled. A mild phosphoric acid will only be used to excavate the cavity and then filled. It can be done in a minute.

Good luck on your appointment. I hope I answered your question.

I find an injection on the mouth hurts lots less. Sometimes the even numb i twith a topical anesthetic before and you domn't feel the needle at all. It usually takes about 5 minutes to drill the cavity out and about that to put the filling in. You will be fine. Ask for gas if you want and it will make you sleepy the whole time and no worries.

dont worry.....the whole process might end in 30 mins....by d way ..if ur getitng ur teeth filled there is no way the doc is goin to put the injection ...only if the teeth is being removed wil he put the injection....since urs is a small hole i dont thnk u wil experience much pain....only if the cavity is till the root of the teeth it wil pain like hell...but urs should not b a problem....dont worry...

Please do not fear the dentists.I was in your position last week. I had to have a filling done.I myself do not like needles but believe me I did not feel a thing. The procedure is virtually pain free these days.I am looking forward to having my next tooth done.So all the best and you have nothing to fear.I promise. The actual drilling was quite relaxing.

The area is numbed before giving you the shot. Some shots are painful, some aren't. For me, shots on lower right jaw are painful but not so painful that I wouldn't have my teeth taken care of.

The small amount of pain you may experience is just that --small.
