What is the best way to take care of my teeth?!

Question: i'm a dental clinician (student) and for me the best way to take care of my teeth are to :

1. brush it every after meal (with circular motion, not horizontal or plain vertical) - because the food left will turn to acid after 20 minutes and it could cause caries/cavity if you dont brush it after meal

2. floss the teeth at least once a day, to prevent the food to stuck in between tooth (to prevent caries/cavity formation)

3. Consult the dentist every 6 months

** i dont recommend using mouthrinses (listerine) everyday because it will cause sensitivity to your teeth, juz use it every 3days or once a week

Floss, brush 2-3 times a day, and see a dentist regularly.

Even if you're not being specific, I'd reccomend a dentist. Even if it's something treatable at home, a dentist would take care of it the best. Get to one.

Several dentists have told me that flossing is the most important thing you can do to prevent tooth decay.

I'm 21 and have never had a cavity, here's my routine:

1) Gargle Listerine in the morning.

2) Brush after every meal (but don't consistently use a harsh gritty toothpaste, like whitening toothpastes, as they can remove your enamel over time).

3) Floss in the evening before bed.

it is kind of hard work - but worth while. After each meal brush your teeth, i don't believe in brushing just 2 times a day. before going to bed work the floss. toffees are really a no no. it contains a lot of sugar and sticks every where. don't try biting hard stuff, like ice, its really not good, it wears your teeth of. and then of course cool-drink with gas destroys your whole bone structure, the gas contains a lot of acids... good luck!

Regular brushing with not too hard brush, flossing, eating a lot of green vegetables and avoiding sticky sugary sweets.

Some people are genetically better protected than others. There are good homeopathic dental preparations but whether you can get them depends on the country where you are staying.

My own need for cleaning of tartar has come down after I switched to a Homeopathic Tooth powder which I brush on, only once a day. I live in Hyderabad, India, where I can get such stuff without a prescricption.

Floss and brush after every meal. use listerine in the morning and ACT at night. See the dentist every 6 months. Also my dentist told me to get an electric toothbrush so I did and wow, totally worth the money and a recent checkup was good. When you drink anything but water, use a straw. The other thing is eat healthy, don't chow down on potato chips and candy bars.

Hope that helps.

All the other answers are good. I also use a sonicare brush. It is pricey but well worth it. After having cavities in my molars and losing a molar, I invested in something that just takes a few minutes, twice a day to use. Of course I floss once a day or at least try to. It costs about $100 at any drug store but well worth it because I don't have to worry about brushing too hard. Also using all natural mouthwash helps too. It's in the same aisle as the toothpaste. Good luck!
