You might have an abcess in your tooth now.
When the caries goes too deep and enters the inner core of your tooth where the nerves and blood vessels are, You willl have increased pain. The bacterias can now easily enter the deeper areas in your tooth and go all the way down to the bone. There you most likely develope an abcess on the tip of your tooth right where the nerves enter the tooth. The pain will increase and you might get intense swelling in this area and/or in your face. Closing that hole with temporary cement makes it worse. During the decay process, the bacterias create gasses that puts pressure on that area and can't be relived because the hole is closed. It is better to keep the hole open and rinse or flush with a water jet (carefully). It can also happen, that the pain suddenly dissapears. That means the tooth died, but the bacterias still can enter your body and create even more havoc without you knowing. Most likely you will end up with a root canal treatment. I would not wait any longer and get an emergency appointment with the dentist. They should accomodate patients with pain everyday. Even when he/she is not open, the answering service provides you with an emergency phone number where you can reach the dentist after hours. It is their job to be there for you in such situations.
Hope you feel better soon

Call and tell him that it is an emergency. He will fit you into his schedule. There is no need to suffer.

Advil is about the best thing to kill a toothache. If it gets to bad I would go buy some BC powder. Put directly on the tooth and bite down. this is not suggested for a prolonged period of time but since you have a Dentist appt soon this will work.

Call him and get some medicine to help the pain.

call his office so he can prescribe you an antbiotic and some pain killers i had to have a root canal and it was so bad that when he started to drill i could smell the infection but i think i had to be on the antibiotics first before he would do anything
