My mom's mouth, has yeast, and other problems, now it's swelling, and pe!

Question: My family went to Disney, in August. And when we got back, my mom's mouth started burning, really badly. Supposedly she had yeast in her mouth, so she took some liquid antibiotic. Now her mouth is having bumps in it, swelling and peeling. This has been going on for months. We have been to a doctor, and he said nothing was wrong with her. What in the world are we supposed to do?

an antibiotic isn't what she needs. It kills the good bacteria as well as the bad and causes a yeast overgrowth. she needs an antifungal such as nystatin (mycostatin) or myconazole. But those are prescriptions that needs a prescription. She could also eat yogurt with live and active cultures and get some good probiotics from the health food store. Lactobacillus Acidophilus improves gastrointestinal function, and Bifidobacterium Longum blocks the growth of harmful bacteria.

Other remedies include: grapefruit seed extract, capricin tea, homeopathic Candida silicea, artemisia, grape seed oil, and gentian. FOS (fructo-oligosaccharide) is an insoluble fiber that acts as a food source for the healthful bifidus bacteria in the intestine.

Google thrush or yeast overgrowth and you can find more info and some products that work well. Or go to your local health food store and they can help you decide what to try.

I would also make an appointment with a dentist who is a DMD because they see a lot of oral infections are able to write prescriptions.

Put on some Chapstick or go to the doctor again.

Yeast is a fungus and not bacteria. If she really has a yeast problem then antibiotics will make the problem worse.

Have a dentist check it out!

How frustrating! One thing that was a major problem for me was the kind of toothpaste I used- if it was a whitening toothpaste it wrecked my mouth. I now use Tom's of Maine and have had good results.

Instead of the dr, perhaps seeing a dentist would be beneficial. If it is yeast, probiotics (like in yogurt) will be helpful and eliminating sugars as much as possible.
