Why do we have wisdon teeth?!

Question: are they important for anything?

Answers: are they important for anything?

As far as I know, they are a remnant from our caveman days, when we had bigger and stronger jaws to grind our food with. Remember, no forks, knives or processed foods back then. LOL. As we've evolved, and our diets changes, our jaws have become smaller, but somehow evolution hasn't caught up with the wisdom teeth yet. We still get them and most people have to have them removed because their jaws won't accommodate them. It's the same with the appendix. It used to be good for something, but it's become obsolete, just like our wisdom teeth. We can live happily without them. Hope this helps.

Well, when we were cavemen / cavewomen we required wisdom teeth for chewing tough foods. As evolution occured, we now don't have a need for them and they usually just end up being a problem.

they make you smarter.... and obviously you do not have them because it is spelled w-i-s-d-o-m

wisdom teeth or third molars serve no function just like our appendix. It may or it may not form in an individual. As the modern man tries to change his eating habits and the type of food he eats, there will come a time that not only the third molars would become extinct but the premolars as well
