Has anyone had FACIAL SWELLING caused by INFECTION due to TOOTH Decay/ ABSCESS?!

Question: i have terrible facial swelling, because of a root canal treatment that was most likely not done properly, and the area is infected which resulted in my face ballooning up. i needed antibiotics which are working...very slowly, but i would like to know is has anyone had to deal with a problem like this ?

The other people has answered you to see your dentist again, and you really should! If the antibiotics seems to work that's all right, but if it works very very slowly, or if it doesn't seem to get much better you need to do something about it. As long as it's in the face it's painful, but if it spreads to your neck area it can really start to become dangerous. So, don't be too patient about this!!

yes my whole face swelled so bad and bruised all over, even my eyes swelled almost to shut i could barely see out them..i had to have tubes inserted into my cheeks to drain the abcess because of it
i looked worse then rodney king did it was sooooo bad

I had pain so bad I had to go tothe emergency dept to have it drained. Make sure you go back if it doesnt clear up as I had to have a different antibiotic when it was clear the first one wasnt killing the bacteria.

I had a similar problem with a wisdom tooth - which also prevented my jaw from moving much. It's an unfortunately common problem that comes with the territory - I mean the mouth is a cesspool when you think about it.

Hang in there! Just keep taking your meds. Monitor it though. If it doesn't start to improve soon, go back to your doctor as he may have to change the prescription or even drain it.

Did you DDS drain your abscess? An abcess left untreated can easily kill you. The antibotics should start showing results in 3-5 days. If no improvment or if it is geeting worse call your DDS and tell him/her your symptoms and request an appointment. He may have to retreat the root canal or even extract if it does not get better. Just know that unless it gets worse all your symptoms are normal of an abscess.
