When you have a root canal done, Is the root still there after the treatment?!

Question: Here how it goes:

When a rooth therapy is done the contents of the canal (the inside of the root) are removed, cleaned and filled with an inert material.

The root of the tooth (the anatomical structure below the gumline) is still there and remains intact.

no

no they take it out because its bad hince the root canal

yuck no, its called a root canal, not make a canal for a root

yes it is still there czu i got my root canal done and then they filled it and when the filling came out my tooth was hurting so if if they say when u get a root canal done the roots r dead u have no more feeling there pain there why does it still hurt ... so yes its there

The shell of the tooth's root is still there, but the nerve is removed. The area of the interior of the root is filled, like a cavity.

A root canal treatment does NOT remove the root. Only the pulp (blood, nerve and lymphatic system) is removed from the tooth. After the pulp is removed and the interior of the tooth is sterilized, the roots are filled with a rubber-like compound and then a filling is placed in the crown of the tooth. Eventually the tooth will require a porcelain crown because the tooth will become brittle and succeptible to fracture with ordinary biting and chewing stresses. Do NOT bite hard on the tooth until the crown has been placed.

No, that's the whole point.

If you have one, and still have pain - then go back and make them finish the job.

No, because it is pain from the nerve endings that is decayed that causes it. What a root canal does is remove the nerve root since the nerve endings will always be firing. It means that particular part of your nerve endings will never be active.

On some rare occasion's a part of the root will break off and remain in the cavity. Usually it will work its way out, but it also may remain in there for years.

According to Webster:

a root canal is a noun and it is:
" ;the part of the pulp cavity lying in the root of a tooth
; also
: a dental operation to save a tooth by removing the contents of its root canal and filling the cavity with a protective substance"

YES... the root is still there, root canal therapy is when the dentist make a filling on your root, they just remove the nerves inside the root and fill it. they dont remove the root, because if the root is removed, the tooth will fall out.
