I am 15 and i have to get metal braces..?!

Question: i want to know how they feel if they hurt.

Answers: i want to know how they feel if they hurt.

I have metal braces on my bottom teeth and clear on the top...(I know its weird). Both cut my cheeks at first and both hurt when they tighten them up. There is no difference with metal braces. They will hurt the first week or so and then for a couple of days after you get them tightened every month. Plan to be on a liquid diet for those days. You can use the wax so that the braces don't cut your lip, but the wax doesn't stay very well and you end up eating it. Your mouth will build calluses around the cut lips so I would advise toughing it out until your cheeks heal. Other than that good luck with them and don't worry cause you will forget they are there after the first month.

So what?

Im 13, and i have metal braces.

It won't hurt like they're yanking something from your tooth but your going to feel alittle discomfort when your not used to it.

Hi there - don't worry - I had to get metal braces also at 15 and it was very strange at first, then you get used to them very quickly. The only time your mouth will hurt is when you go back to have them tightened every few weeks - this is how your teeth are straightened. Just take a few Tylenol before you go in for those appointments, so your pain will be reduced. There's nothing to worry about just look forward to having a beautiful smile.
Don't forget, remember to brush with a whitening toothpaste morning and night every day with braces - they tend to cause people's teeth to get yellow if you don't keep up with the brushing. Good luck I'm sure your smile will be great!

They hurt for a little bit but you get used to them. Mine cut into my cheeks I can't wait til I get them off.......

Yes they hurt! It doesn't hurt putting them on! It just hurts after that, because they are tight and make ur teeth sore! But its worth it, ur teeth will look really good when they get done!

it gonna hurt alot for the first 4-5 days.....

i had to eat liquids for 5 days...cause me theeth were so soar!!...i coulndt chew anything...atleast i have straihht theeth now....

i had them a lifetime ago....

when you first get them on they hurt a little bit. and they will scrape along your inside mouth line (but that goes away too).

each subsequent visit they may tighten them some more which may be uncomfortable for a few hours to a day then is gone (not so much painful but just uncomfortable)

all in all... not a bad process really, you wont recognize them after a while... Behave with them, the better you are at maintaing the shorter time you have to wear them.

They hurt for a little bit, but the procedure doesnt hurt. It's going to be a while until you can eat hard food again.

it doesn't hurt when they put them on, but after a few hours your teeth become sore because they start moving. it'll hurt for about a week or so, so just eat a lot of soft foods like ice cream and soup.
and you'll feel them in your mouth, but after a while it isn't so bad. you get used to them :]
i just got my braces off and everything i went through was worth it.

i just got mine off today

they hurt at first and when they tighten them, but only for a few days

they dont really hurt coming off either

it only hurt me about an hour after i got them on and lasted for a few days. them when i got them tightened, most of the time it would hurt for the same amount of time, depending on how much they tightened them.

supposedly chewing sugerless gum afterward kills a little bit of the pain, but i prefer ibuprofen.
