I've been wearing mine for 16 months now and I am wearing them as a pre-requisite for oral surgery I am having soon. I don't regret it and am excited because I know the outcome will be nice. They hurt for a couple of days each time they tighten them. In my case, I have "extra things" on my bands(for the surgery) and my palate is being expanded so I get a lot of sores inside my cheeks and have to still use wax almost daily. But it isn't that bad for most people. Another drawback is that there are certain foods that you won't be able to eat for awhile. All in all, I think that if you feel you would benefit from it, then by all means, do it........you'll be glad in the long run. I'm proud that it shows I care enough about my oral health to do something about it. So many adults are wearing them these days. Hope that helps and good luck.

I realize I don't exactly qualify. But I was told I needed braces, I chose a more expensive oral surgery that basically "pulled" my teeth together. I had to have my gums cut, which took two weeks to heal. The overall process was painful but I was given pain medication. It took almost three months for everything to "take hold." I could send you before and after pics if you want.

I recommend the ceramic braces (clear braces).

If you feel embarrassed in getting braces at age 30, don't feel that way because theres nothing embarrassing about it. I'm not 30, but I can tell you that you won't regret having nice straight teeth! And yes, I've see many adults wearing braces!

Also, they do not hurt! Only for the first couple of nights because your teeth and jaw aren't use to the pressure from the braces, but after that it doesnt hurt at all. You might want to stay away from hard/sticky food for a couple of weeks, and depending on if you get the clear braces, (stay away curry, coke, and any other food that will strain the brackets.) For the price on braces, the old traditional metals ones are about $3500 and the clear are about $4500, both braces includes the retainers.

Finally, there is no regret getting braces =]! Only positive things will come out of getting braces, just live with it for 2 years and you'll have the nicest teeth!

Ok I know that I am not in my 30's, but if you go to www.archwired.com you will find out how other adults dealed with it and their stories!

God Bless!
