i have braces. so brush up on the tops of your teeth getting the bristles into your brackets. then go over the brackets up and down like they aren't there. then brush from the bottom sticking the bristles into your brackets.

applying wax: make it pliable in your fingers then stretch your cheek open with one hand and then stick on the wax with the otehr. ONLY USE WAX IF A WIRE IS STICKING OUT AND HURTING YOU. DO NOT USE IT TO PLAY WITH.

Ask your Orthadontist about the interproximal brush, I never got one ot those.

There are special flossers you can buy and here is how to use them: thread them through a space in your brackets and carefully weave them through just like normal floss. but be EXTRA careful, because one time I got floss stuck in my braces. Not fun.

Good LUCK!

I've had braces for 3 years. Here's what helps me:

1. Brush your teeth twice a day. Brushing after every meal isn't necessary.

2. Floss daily. Your orthodontist should have showed you how to floss.

3. Use mouthwash daily.

4. The interproximal brush is really helpful if food is stuck in your braces. Keep it handy!!

5. I used the wax once and it was a hassle. Honestly, if your wires are poking you just go back to your orthodontist to get them cut closer.

Good luck!

ask your orthodontist for a special toothbrush and floss. to apply wax you tear off little corner, roll into little ball and place where wire is poking your cheek. brush after you eat every time. and floss 2 times a day.it is a lot of work but it's worth it

I use a sonicare toothbrush and works really well! I brush 2 times a day and usually for about 4 minutes. Flossing is a hassle :( but my brackets are positioned where I don't have to thread for most. Get that tool (forget the name) that goes between the brackets to clean under the wire, it really does help. Also ask your orthodontist or dentist to give you a perscription for a mouth wash that is 5 times better than over the counter. It is only about $10 and is good just in case you miss some spots along the gum line. Good luck!!
