My crowned tooth is KILLING me!?!

Question: I had my eye tooth crowned about 3 weeks ago. It's been hurting on and off. I went to dentist Friday and he shaved it down and said it was too high. It was fine Saturday, started hurting a little on Sunday, yesterday it was throbbing and right now its throbbing and hurts up to the roots of the tooth. It hurts even up next to my nose. I've been taking Advil like it's candy. I should tell you that I wear a particle that is connected to that tooth by a metal bracket and I'm waiting on my permanent to finish being made. The pain seems to get worse as the evening wears on.

Any suggestions as to what I can do about this pain?

from your description i get the idea it is a removable kind of partial denture so please dont wear it untill u have the next appointment , sice the pain starts in the evening it sounds more like a pulpal pain , u may require a root canal....too much of any medication can start of gastric irritation so be careful ... visit ur dentist as soon as possible

OK, well no wonder it hurts... I've been there, have crowns on two molars that both had root canals done, however one bothers me from time to time if I don't floss daily, but I've been able to control things by getting an electric tooth brush and rinsing with Listerine before bed and when I get up in the mornings. Once things flare up, it takes a couple of days to get things under control again...but it reminds me to floss!

The other item that's really helped is a Water-Pick, using warm saline or watered down Listerine. I wish you the best... tooth pain is the worst!

Chances are the tooth needs a root therapy. Call your friendly neighborhood dentist right away.

YOUR ADDITIONAL DETAILS HELP TO REALLY UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION.
THE SITUATION IS THAT THIS TOOTH IS BEARING TOO MUCH STRESS FROM THE PARTIAL DENTURE.
A DIFFERENT PARTIAL DESIGN SHOULD BE MADE SO THE STRESS IS MORE EQUALLY DISTRIBUTED IN THE MOUTH.
AS LONG AS THIS TOOTH CONTINUES TO BEAR THE BRUNT OF THE PARTIAL DURING CHEWING THE PAIN WILL CONTINUE.
